Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A gold medal winner with Team Canada at the Winter Olympics and World Cup of Hockey, Simon Gagne also hoisted a Stanley Cup during his time with the Los Angeles Kings in 2011-12, and we offer a helmet worn by the star during the regular season and Stanley Cup finals according to the accompanying LOA from the Kings/MeiGray (images from Getty confirm the matching model used during the regular season and Stanley Cup finals). A Bauer model in solid white with Bauer visor, Kings decals grace each side, with “12” over the forehead and lower reverse. There is also a team “Ace Mark” decal added to the lower left reverse and “Stanley Cup Finals” decal over the lower right. Showing great game-use with scratches and surface abrasions visible throughout, there is also considerable wear to the interior harness. We should further note that Gagne played four games in the final, with the only road contest where the helmet would have been worn occurring on June 9th. A MeiGray sticker has been added to the interior, with a matching Team/MeiGray LOA to accompany along with a COR from MeiGray.
Getty Image #133573825 (Nov 16, 2011) appears to show the turned up right corner on the white sticker added to the cover on the size adjustment opening on the left side, with the placement of the "Ace Mark" decal, the bolt pattern of the adjacent screw and the wear line along the far right side of the Bauer visor logo also appearing to match, but these traits do not qualify for a definitive photo-match.
