Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Well ahead of their time in style, construction and material, these extremely rare tube skate blades originate from the 1910s, and are the first of their kind we have ever encountered. Featuring the “tubular” design that was invented the previous decade and would later dominate the market, each steel skate blade is mounted within a complete aluminum body, with “Trademark Alumo Registered” in raised letters on one side of each skate, along with “Pat Nov 3, 1914” on the opposite side of each skate. “4” is also visible over each skate’s top section. The pair show minor wear from use and display beautifully, with marks and just a bit of unobtrusive spot rusting to the blades.
