Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Hailing from the turn-of-the-century and highlighted by a rarely-seen pair of Dominion model hockey skates produced by master maker Henry Boker – and possibly used by a goaltender, we offer three pairs of antique steel hockey skates ideal for the historian and collector of early hockey items. First, the nickel-plated Dominion skates are size 11 with straight steel runners and feature welded and tempered blades along with puck stop (a small extended metal section that stopped any puck from traveling between a player’s boot and blade), with Henry Boker’s winged skate logo engraved to each (denoting second-highest quality), with moderate wear to the desirable pair. Boker produced the best hockey skates in the late-1800s/early-1900s including the top-of-the-line “Montreal Hockey” models that sold for a hefty $5 per pair. This is followed by a pair of Climax hockey skates produced by the famous Starr Company out of Halifax, with the size 11 skates with engraved logo showing great use including pitting.
