Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The oldest goaltender to see action in a Stanley Cup playoff game, Johnny Bower enjoyed an especially long and successful professional career, and was the first netminder to employ the now commonplace poke check. We offer a trio of items signed by The China Wall including a pair of photos, along with a third limited-edition photo multi-signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs “Kid Line II” of Vic Lynn, Ted Kennedy and Howie Meeker. First, the Bower photos are 11” x 14” and both sport “China Wall” and “HHOF 76” notations, with an image showing game play signed in blue marker, along with a photo of Bower’s Legends Row statue signed in silver. The third Bower item is a signed jersey number, with the 12” twill “1” signed in blue marker, with “China Wall” and “HHOF 76” again added. The Kid Line II photo is 12” x 15 ½” and shows the three with a trio of Stanley Cups (1947-48-49), with each signing in blue sharpie. The limited-edition number of “36/50” has been added along with a hologram. The signatures display well, with light wear to the photos which includes a couple small corner creases to the Kid Line photo. KSA stickers have been affixed to the Bower items with Basic Certifications to accompany along with a COA for the Kid Line photo.
