Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A play on the Cold War term “Iron Curtain”, with the name conceived through a 1971 Pittsburgh radio contest, the Steel Curtain was the nickname given to the Pittsburgh Steelers stalwart defensive line and featured "Mean" Joe Greene, L. C. Greenwood, Ernie Holmes and Dwight White. This framed Steelers “Steel Curtain” jersey features the numbers of all four, with each signing. Featuring “Steel Curtain” in single gold twill over the upper reverse, all four numbers have been affixed in single white twill, with each signing his respective number in black marker. The signatures all display wonderfully with just a hint of fading, with a hologram placed near the base, with the jersey beautifully framed to full dimensions of approx 44” x 52 ½” (there is some wear to the frame). Greene is the only surviving member of the line, with Holmes and White passing in 2008, Greenwood in 2013. We should further note that due to the size and/or weight, special shipping arrangements may be required.
