Selling-out within hours after tickets became available and billed as “The World Awaits”, the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. light middleweight superfight took place on May 5, 2007, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The most lucrative boxing match ever at the time, generating over $130 million, Mayweather Jr. won by split decision in 12 rounds to capture the WBC light middleweight title.
