Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Thin and flat and exhibiting only minimal handling are the cards in this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee ensemble, complemented admirably by all the team logo inserts that came in 3rd Series packs – nice. NM-or-better cards appear to be the majority, with a corner touch or a light corner ding sending some to the EX+ and EX-MT neighborhood and NM-MT-or-better examples showing up intermittently. Oftentimes smoother-than-usual edges are appreciated attributes, with Bobby Orr’s regular (#129) issue and Guy Lafleur’s second-year card both NM and joined by an EX-MT+ 336-Bobby Hull card. All-Star cards of Dryden (EX) and Hull (VG-EX) are lower notables, with the regular Dryden (#145) slightly faded and EX+. Just half a dozen creases are observed throughout, with 283-Assist Leaders (small corner crease) and the #334-3rd Series Checklist (More WHA Hockey Stars) among them, while the other three checklists are also unmarked. The somewhat elusive cards featuring WHA players (50) are similar to their NHL counterparts condition-wise, although a stain affects 293-J.C. Tremblay. The WHA team logos and the short-printed Atlanta Flames and N.Y. Islanders examples highlight the inserts, with just two light subtle creases detected (Kings, Raiders), and a notorious pinhole-size production-caused mark in most of the NHL entries but only one (Cougars) of the WHAers. You should be enthused when this assembly is delivered.
