Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Removing the Madison Square Garden tether while celebrating their Stanley Cup championship by burning the team’s lease with the venue in the Stanley Cup, the New York Rangers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs on Bryan Hextall’s overtime goal in Game 6 of the 1939-40 finals to capture the Blueshirts’ 3rd championship. This team-issued period Stanley Cup champions photo of the Rangers has been team-signed by 17 including 8 deceased HOFers. At 8” x 10” and affixed to cardboard at slightly larger dimensions, the glossy black and white composite print depicts the full squad and management in cameo images, with the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup front and center. The signing enshrined members that have sadly left us include Lester Patrick, Babe Pratt, Art Coulter, Clint Smith, Neil Colville, Bryan Hextall, Lynn Patrick and coach Frank Boucher, along with Watson, Shibicky, Hiller, Macdonald, Pike, Kerr, Heller, M. Colville and trainer Harry Westerby. The signatures display well despite varying degrees of fading, with the photo itself in gorgeous condition, sporting just light handling wear.
