Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Backed by an especially potent combination of HOF talent that included Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk, Ted Lindsay, Alex Delvecchio and Red Kelly, the Detroit Red Wings cruised to a first-place finish in the NHL in 1954-55, losing a mere 17 contests. After sweeping Toronto in the Semis, the boys from Motown would defeat a strong Montreal Canadiens squad in seven to claim the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup. Originating from his personal collection, we have the 1954-55 Detroit Red Wings “League Champions and Stanley Cup Winners” tray presented to team captain Lindsay. Somewhat diminutive in size at approx 6” x 10” and designed to originally hold a no-longer present gravy bowl, the mini tray with attractive floral patterns features engraved text that states “National Hockey League – League Champions and Stanley Cup Winners – 1954-55 – Detroit Hockey Club Inc – Ted Lindsay, Captain”, with “Heritage”, “847 Rogers Bros”, “IS” (International Silver) and “9413” stamped to the reverse. The tray exhibits scratch marks over the front and reverse, and displays wonderfully overall. An LOA from the Lindsay family will accompany.
