Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
First presented in 1966 to honour the late, great hockey coach and innovator, the Lester Patrick Trophy is awarded annually “for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.” Eligible recipients include players, officials, coaches, executives, and referees. We offer the example that was originally presented to Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks superstar and HOFer Ted Lindsay in 2008. At 11’ in height, sporting an approx weight of 8 lbs and mounted to a rectangular wooden base with sloping sides and brown felt underside, this amazing bronze statue is an accurate reproduction of the original, with the engraved plaque affixed to the wooden base stating “Lester Patrick Award”, “Ted Lindsay” and “2008”. With just light wear present, we should note that the bronze player is somewhat loose on the base. With the original sculpted by Princeton University professor Joe Brown, bronze hockey statues are extremely rare and valuable in any form, making this offering a rare opportunity, especially given its desirable provenance. An LOA from the Lindsay family will accompany.
