Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Those of you fond of cards from the 1960s, particularly 1968-69 O-Pee-Chees, but not fond of creases should be fond of this rather inviting gathering. Creases are few and EX, EX+ and EX-MT cards look to combine to dominate, with NMs to definitely come across, along with lesser lights. A PSA-graded duo features Derek Sanderson and Mickey Redmond (RC) at NM 7, with the latter including an (OC) qualifier, while #214-Orr Norris Trophy received a 5.5 Excellent+ assessment from Beckett (BVG). In a BCCG holder labeled “7 Very Good or Better” is 121-1st Series Checklist, with a one-inch diagonal crease in the upper left blue region, along with warping, visible through the holder. The key Bobby Orr (#2) card, like many 1st Series entries, has a diamond cut but superior centering and corners than we usually see. However, staining can be seen on the front and the back appears to have once been pasted. Bernie Parent’s rookie card is VG+ with peripheral wear and the 2nd Series (unmarked) checklist is partially discolored and otherwise VG. Impressive NM condition is to report with All-Star cards of Howe, Hull and Esposito, with 213-Sanderson Calder and Horton All-Star a tad lower and the 200-Orr All-Star example EX+ with a subtle light stain to the left of the top tip of the star. About a dozen exhibit a light, (usually peripheral) crease and only a few have a notorious production-related “line”. One such (barely noticeable) line affects 29-Howe, with 16-Hull (EX) and 181-Plante (EX) among the nice star cards. Intermittent toning in varying degrees on the backs is also to be aware of. Generally though, nice clean surfaces and light handling/wear will have you enjoying this ensemble.
