The nephew of noted HOFer George Armstrong, Dale McCourt spent the bulk of his NHL career with Detroit and led the Red Wings in scoring in both the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons. The Falconbridge native would also represent Canada twice at the World Championships and would conclude his pro career in Switzerland. From his sophomore campaign in Motown, we have a Red Wings jersey worn by McCourt in 1978-79. A laundering label is affixed to the collar along with size (50) and year (8) tags, with a garter-style fight strap utilized. Sporting the classic winged-wheel team crest with embroidered detailing, “10” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with “McCourt” arching across the upper reverse in matching material. Exhibiting thorough game-use with washed-out marks on the lower front along with a few faint burn marks, there are also a couple yellow stains visible including over the left breast, with two team repairs beneath the team crest.
