Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Putting together this set of 36 autographed cards commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series is extremely difficult. As part of a 1992 release by “Future Trends”, the 35 members of Team Canada 1972 and HOF Russian goalie Vladislav Tretiak have each signed a limited number of their cards, which were inserted into packs at a rate of only one or two per case, specially coated with a swirl pattern over the gold ink signatures. This offering from the personal collection of Team Canada 1972 forward Peter Mahovlich features the Future Trends presentational binder with his name on the cover and includes the regular and unsigned 101-card set plus the sought-after “Signature Series” signed 36-card set that includes Tretiak, tournament hero Paul Henderson, deceased HOFers Stan Mikita, Rod Gilbert and Tony Esposito, HOFers Frank Mahovlich, Gilbert Perreault, Serge Savard, Bobby Clarke, Jean Ratelle, Yvan Cournoyer, Phil Esposito, Ken Dryden, Marcel Dionne, Guy Lapointe and Brad Park, and deceased team members Pat Stapleton, Bill White, Rick Martin, Bill Goldsworthy, Gary Bergman, Brian Glennie and J.P. Parise, as well as Don Awrey, Mickey Redmond, Rod Seiling, Dale Tallon, Wayne Cashman, Peter Mahovlich, Jocelyn Guevremont, Vid Hadfield, Red Berenson, Ron Ellis, Dennis Hull, Ed Johnston and head coach Harry Sinden. With no issues for any of the attractive gold paint pen signatures, the cards themselves are in beautiful condition as displayed in their individual pockets in plastic sheet pages in the binder. Comes with Peter Mahovlich’s signed LOA plus an 11 ¼” x 7 ¼” gold-colored frame that displays an additional Peter Mahovlich signed card and the Team Canada card with a “Team Canada ‘72 20th Anniversary plaque at the top, all displayed on a blue matte background.
