Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A four-time Stanley Cup champion throughout his NHL career that included time with Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit, Peter Mahovlich spent two seasons in the AHL with the Adirondack Red Wings after his final NHL season in 1980-81, and we offer a ring presented to the star for the Red Wings Calder Cup championship of 1980-81. Size 11 ½ with an approx weight of 23 grams, a full colour Red Wings logo sits over a red stone on the tableau, encompassed by “Adirondack Red Wings Champions” in slanted letters. The right shank has an AHL logo with “Mahovlich” above and his number “26” below, with an image of the Calder Cup on the left shank with “1981” above. Mahovlich’s initials are engraved to the inner band, with “Balfour Celestrum” stamped – with most of it worn away. Heavy wear from extended use is visible throughout, with numerous scratches, dings and small gouges covering the band and shanks, with some additional wear over the tableau. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Peter Mahovlich will accompany along with a 16” x 20” photo of Mahovlich with teammates affixed to styrofoam.
