Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Spending time in sunny Florida during the first half of his final NHL campaign, Tim Thomas would split the 2013-14 NHL season between Florida and Dallas and backstop the Panthers in 40 regular-season games before being acquired by the Stars in March of 2014. Thomas would don the #34 with the Panthers in honour of John Vanbiesbrouck. From that short partial season, we have a blocker worn by Thomas that has been photo-matched, with pants and skates worn during the season along with a second pair of skates (no blades) attributed to the Panthers (a sheet with instructions and “2013” date has been placed within the left skate). The blocker sports no identifiers and is in Panthers colours with “Thomas” embroidered, with light use shown which includes puck marks covering the front. Getty Images #450034345 (Nov 12, 2013) and #187492388 (Nov 9, 2013) have both been matched to numerous marks over the front of the blocker. The pants are Warrior models that show light use with “Thomas” embroidered to the tongue, while the Graf skates also show light use with large holes carved into the inside sections of each blade holder. The remaining Bauer skates with dated paper show no use and as mentioned, have no blades. An inventory label presumably from the Bruins that lists Thomas along with the particulars has been affixed to blocker (removable), with Kay Whitmore also initialing the blocker and pants in his capacity as goaltending supervisor of the NHL. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Tim Thomas will accompany.
