Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Topps’ first major baseball card set is represented here by over 100 examples, with crease-free cards the majority and a little star/minor star/semi-star action to report. VG, VG+ and VG-EX cards show up most often, with varying amounts of corner/edge wear usually the grade-lowering flaws and not creases, although creased VGs are present. We count 20 that make it to EX, with some two dozen not making it to VG. Most notable, in numerical order and in at least the aforementioned VG to VG-EX range are #s 24-Easter (crease), 27-Jethroe (black back), 99-Woodling, 100-Rice, 101-Lanier, 106-Vernon, 111-Lowrey, 117-Lollar, 129-Mize (crease), 200-Houk RC (small crease), 230-Batts, 244-Wertz, 257-Avila and 292-Baker SP (ST). Lesser notables are 215-Bauer (G), 221-Hamner (small speck of paper loss on the reverse), 227-Garagiola (F) and 300-McCosky SP (G). There are eight 1st Series cards, (39) numbered between 82 and 127, (22) between 131 and 190 (no gray backs), (27) from 193 to 245 and nine above 250. The lower and higher numbers tend to be in lesser condition. One duplicate, 226-Philley, brings the grand total to 105. A respectable batch of ’52 Topps cards is to contemplate.
