Boy, these custom-made wooden plaques sure are sturdier than the original plastic “shields” that were available back in the day and do a heck of a good job in displaying the complete 120-coin set from 1961-62 offered here – very nice indeed. The heavy plaques are one-inch thick, with holes on the reverse which allow one to poke individual coins out of their holding area if so desired. Well, most of them, as some seem rather securely in place (but not glued) and we did not attempt each and every one. Random removed coins are in fine shape with no issues, including no edge chips and we notice that Salada versions look to outnumber their Shirriff counterparts. Just two coins, 14-Kurtenbach and 21-Hillman SP (both Salada) exhibit pronounced toning, with at times light warping of the thin cardboard inserts also to mention but definitely nothing unsightly. Throw-ins are more than four dozen extras, with most of them of the Salada variety and a few stars present but no superstars and decent to nice condition to report. There are also a half-dozen from ’60-61, some low graders (9) from ’61-6 and a dozen Parkhurst coins from the mid-1990s.
