Created by The Walt Disney Company and serving as two of the most popular and beloved cartoon characters of all-time, Mickey Mouse first appeared to the world in the 1928 film Steamboat Willie, while Donald Duck made his first impressions in print, in 1931. This lot offers a pair of framed Disney Serigraph Cels featuring Mickey and Donald playing golf, with the Mickey cel limited to 2,500 copies, and the Donald cel limited to 9,500. First, the Mickey cel pictures the iconic mouse all smiles, in full golf swing, with a seal from Disney over the lower right that lists the limited-edition, double-matted and framed to approx 17 ½” x 20 ½”. The second cel is entitled “Donald’s Golf Game” and measures approx 10” x 13 ½” and depicts Flauntleroy lining up at the tee. A Disney “Limited Edition Serigraph” seal appears over the bottom right, with a certificate affixed to the reverse, double-matted and framed to 17” x 21”. It should be noted that each frame sports heavy wear/damage.
