Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Best personifying his abilities to completely control the game at will, Bobby Orr still holds the NHL record for the best plus-minus season (+124; 1970-71), along with most points in an NHL season by a defenseman and most assists in an NHL season by a defenseman. Orr was still producing huge numbers by the mid-1970s, with his 135 points in 1974-75 his second-best career total. From the mid-1970s, we have a highly desirable stick used by the iconic blueliner, with this specific stick seeing use after the fact by someone other than Orr. A familiar Victoriaville model with “Bobby Orr” factory graphics, the original white-now-darkened spiral tape pattern is intact over the handle, with tape later added to the blade – possibly to rectify a crack as one is visible near the tape. The underside is also quite worn, most likely from street hockey, with additional heavy age and handling wear to the shaft, with the material appearing slightly weathered. Despite this, the stick remains solid, and serves as important surviving lumber from one of the greatest careers in history.
