This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Enforcing fair play during their time in Motor City and both equally adept with either their fists or sticks as fighters and skilled scorers, Bob Probert and Joey Kocur were teammates on the Detroit Red Wings for six seasons throughout the second half of the 1980s. This lot features a pair of Motown sticks, with an example used by Probert during the late-1980s, circa 1988-89, along with a team-signed example used by Kocur in either 1987-88 or 1988-89. KOHO (Kocur) and Louisville (Probert) models with the respective player’s name stamped to the upper shaft, the tape jobs remain intact on each (with spiral shaft pattern to the Kocur, the stick also has missing strands from the blade and clear tape added at the heel), with the blade tape removed on the Probert stick to allow space for the large and somewhat faded black marker signature with greeting. Both sticks show moderate game-use, with 17 signing the shaft of the Kocur in mixed inks including Kocur and Probert, along with Yzerman, Oates, Nill, Hanlon, Houda, Burr Norwood and others, with some of the signatures worn/faded.
