Representing Canada at the 1981 IIHF World Championships in Stockholm, defenseman Norm Barnes was selected in both the NHL and WHA Drafts of 1973. The Rexdale native would spend parts of four seasons with Philadelphia, and dress for Hartford for his final two NHL seasons. This Whalers jersey was worn by Barnes in 1980-81. A Good Sports label is affixed to the collar along with size “52” and year “80” fly tags, with a laundering tag placed beneath. Styled with a layered tackle twill Whalers team crest, “25” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with dual Pucky the whale crests to each shoulder. “Barnes” has also been sewn directly to the upper reverse. Dark marks cover the front and sleeves, with burns, pulls and scrapes to the sleeves. The threading has become unraveled at the cuffs – possibly to add length, with a few somewhat crude team repairs also visible, with examples situated on the left (1) and right (2) sleeves.
