Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A standout in the OHL during his time with the Erie Otters, winning the Red Tilson Trophy as league MVP in 2017, Alex DeBrincat was drafted by Chicago and has spent his first four seasons in the Windy City thus far. From the 2019-20 NHL season where DeBrincat secured 45 points, we have a helmet worn by the Michigan native, photo-matched to both the regular-season and playoffs. A CCM model in solid white with intact strapping, visor and interior harness, Black Hawks decals grace each side, with “12” in Hawks colours affixed to the forehead and lower reverse. There are also Black Hawks and Stanley Cup Playoffs decals on the lower reverse. Sporting light game-use with a few abrasions and cuts to the material, DeBrincat has signed the visor in silver, with the signature displaying well. We should also note that there is a silver smudge on the top section, with this occurring sometime after use, most likely while placed on a freshly-signed item. An LOA from the Chicago Black Hawks will accompany.
Getty Image #1267067118 (Aug 18, 2020 - PLAYOFFS) appears to show the very distinct shape of the end section of the chin strap, with the crooked and burnt end matching. Taken from the Black Hawks final game of the playoffs (Aug 18, 2020, 4-3 loss to Vegas), the silver paint pen area on the top of the helmet does not show in the image – as mentioned - with this likely occurring sometime after use while placed next to a freshly-signed specimen with wet ink. Additionally, Getty Image #1211145424 (March 6, 2020 – REGULAR SEASON) has been matched to the distinct crooked shape visible while looking downward at the top of the helmet as the changeable sizing adjustment was not evenly placed, while Getty Image #1200511530 (Feb 12, 2020 – REGULAR SEASON) has been matched to the dark mark pattern visible on the left side where the front shell intersects with the back shell, with the small dark marks just above the Black Hawks logo on the left side also visible.
