Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
One of only eight players in history to be crowned an Olympic gold medalist and Stanley Cup champion in the same year, Jonathan Toews is also the youngest team captain to ever be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy. From his 12th NHL season, one that witnessed the Winnipeg native score 81 points in 82 games, we have photo-matched skates worn by Toews in 2018-19 (no blades are currently on the skates). Bauer Nexus models with Tuuk Lightspeed blade holders and intact lacing, matching decals have been affixed to the underside of each boot with “19.4 5/8” along with the date of “12/1/18” (the Black Hawks played the Predators on Dec 12th, with numerous images showing these matching models). Each skate has been signed on the inside section at the ankle in silver, with nice game-use exhibited on the pair including puck marks to the blade holders and cuts to the toe sections. Getty Images #1074303454 (Dec 16, 2018) and #1069274362 (Dec 6, 2018) have both been matched to numerous marks visible over each blade holder, while Getty Image #1072310686 (Dec 12, 2018) has been matched to the identical sticker on the underside of the left skate. Additionally, Getty Image #1082299562 (Dec 11, 2018) has been matched to numerous marks on each blade holder, with the wear pattern on the bottom three grommets on the right side of the left skate also matching. An LOA from the Black Hawks will accompany, with it listing “2019-20” instead of “2018-19”.
