Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

A neat trio is available here and we’ll go in reverse chronological order for once, with “The Howes” card leading a complete 66-card WHA set from 1974-75. Card #1 is crease-free but has enough corner/edge wear to send it to VG+, while the rest are quite sharp; you can anticipate EX-MT to NM examples, with a few better or worse and an unmarked (EX-MT) checklist. We spot two creased cards, with another miscut. Nice and white and bright are two dozen Topps “booklets” from ’71-72, with the first (1-Hull) with a dinged bottom edge and the last (24-Orr) with a small light bend and corner/edge wear, with some of the other not perfectly cut/centered. Howe, the Esposito brothers, Clarke, Perreault, Plante, Richard, Keon and Dryden highlight the lineup, with the same players, with the exception of Dryden, also contributing in a ’70-71 Dad’s Cookies near set. We count the correct 144 total but spot duplicates of Clarke and Parent. Please note that approximately half (71 cards) measure short and appear trimmed across both the top and bottom. We also spot some corner dings, light handling and light intermittent toning throughout. Only a minority of the key star cards are “short”; both Clarkes, Tony O, Perreault, Mahovlich, Vachon and Sanderson. Some nice break-up value comes to mind, along with other possibilities.
