Developing his game with the US NTDP, Patrick Kane was the first overall selection in 2007 and has lived up to his billing. The Buffalo native is a nine-time All-Star thus far, with a number of trophies earned including the Art Ross, Conn Smythe and Hart Memorial. Awarded the Calder Memorial for his inaugural NHL campaign in 2007-08 that included scoring 72 points, Kane used this signed stick during the preseason of his rookie year – making the example one of the earliest sticks used by the star as both an NHL player and member of the Chicago Black Hawks. A Bauer One95 model with “P. Kane” factory graphics, the original white tape remains on the blade and black spiral pattern on the handle/knob. “88” is handwritten to the upper shaft, with the number repeated in silver at the heel. Nice game-use is shown including wear to the underside of the taped section of blade along with marks and surface chips to the finish on the lower shaft. Kane has placed a black marker signature across the front-side blade along with “Game Used”. A note of provenance from our consignor that mentions the stick being in his possession since Kane’s rookie season will accompany, with the note also stating that the stick was signed at a Hawks convention after the season.
