Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
A three-time Stanley Cup champion with appearances at four NHL All-Star contests, Rogie Vachon earned the Vezina Trophy in just his second NHL season, and we offer a stick used by the 2016 HOF inductee during his rookie era with Montreal in the late-1960s, with this the earliest Vachon gamer we have ever offered. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model with “Vachon” stamped to the upper shaft, an additional stamp from team supplier McNiece’s appears over the top side, with the stick retaining the original black tape on the blade and white-over-black on the handle/knob. Sporting heavy game-use with considerable wear to the taped section of blade including tears and cracking/separations at the heel, there is also a bit of material loss, with at least one crack that runs across the blade from the heel to the toe. There is also some additional wear to the shaft including small areas of red paint transfer, with a former auction house label still attached (removable). Vachon used this model from his start with the Habs in 1966-67 to and including the 1968-69 NHL season.
