Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Contributing his stalwart defensive skills to help Canada win its first gold medal in Olympic men’s hockey in 50 years at the 2002 winter games in Salt Lake City, Chris Pronger was a mainstay on Canada’s blueline, playing in all six games, including the 5-2 win against the host United States in the final. This jersey was worn by Pronger in the Feb 15th match vs Sweden (this is the only game Canada wore their alternate maple leaf team crest jerseys). Nike and IIHF labels grace the collar with “58” sizing, with a second IIHF crest over the reverse hem. Styled with the large maple leaf team crest that served as the alternate in both 2002 and 2006, “44” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered twill, with Hockey Canada crests affixed to each shoulder. Worn for a single match, the jersey sports light wear including a few burns and marks. Getty Image #72500040 (Feb 15, 2002) appears to show the burn mark over the left elbow, with the exact placement next to the seam, but the image is not in high enough resolution to be deemed a photo-match. An LOA from Hockey Canada will accompany.
