Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Plagued by injury throughout his NHL days and not quite matching the stellar junior career he experienced with the Regina Pats, Darren Veitch was drafted 5th overall by Washington in 1980 and dressed for three different NHL clubs. Veitch would spend 62 games with the Washington Capitals in 1985-96 before being dealt to Detroit, and would see action in just 13 regular-season games with the Red Wings the season the offered jersey was worn. No labeling remains along the collar, with the vintage garment measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Styled with the classic winged-wheel team crest borrowed from the legendary Montreal AAA, “5” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single white twill, with the Red Wings 50th anniversary crest over the left shoulder. Sporting nice game-use, there are puck and stick marks over the sleeves and lower front along with a few faint burns.
