Earning over a-point-a-game throughout his Hall of Fame career, Brett Hull would conclude his final full NHL season in Detroit in 2003-04 with 741 career goals, a season that also witnessed the 1990 Lady Byng winner represent the US at the World Cup of Hockey. Hailing from his final of three seasons in Motor City in 2003-04, we have signed gloves attributed to his 733rd career goal (Jan 29, 2004), photo-matched to the Jan 2, 2004 match vs Carolina (Hull earned an assist). Mission M1 models correct for the season in solid red with white identifiers, “JJC” is embroidered to each wrist guard (the initials of his children) along with “2” on each cuff (worn). Hull has signed each glove in silver over the reverse fingers, adding “#733”, with the ink blending into the background material slightly. Light but definite use is exhibited on the pair, with a few marks visible along with wear to each palm (leather was added over the palm on the right glove). Both interior also sport minor sweat staining. Getty Image #53078654 (Jan 2, 2004) has been matched to the repair over the thumb on the right glove, with the dark mark just above on the wrist guard also visible along with the handwritten “2” on the cuff extension. We should also note that according to our consignor, he acquired these gloves directly from Joey Kocur, who in turn received them from Hull.
