Donning a number of uniforms representing numerous leagues throughout his pro career including the Detroit Red Wings and CHL’s Dallas Black Hawks, Jean-Paul LeBlanc also spent a quartet of seasons in the WHA and served as an original member of the short-lived two-season Los Angeles Sharks. This highly-desirable Sharks jersey was worn by LeBlanc in 1973-74, and it is accompanied by #16 gloves attributed to Sharks winger Earl Heiskala. Distinguished from the 1972-73 inaugural season jerseys worn with V-neck collar, this tie-neck specimen sports Rawlings labeling affixed to the collar with “48” sizing, with no fight strap. The Sharks team crest features embroidered detailing, with “10” sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill. Moderate game-use is exhibited with material pulls and a few very small holes over the front and sleeves, with some minor staining over the upper and lower reverse. The gloves are Cooper models in Sharks colours with “16” decals on each cuff. Heavy use is shown with the material stiff throughout, with holes to the palms and tape added to some fingers. We should also note that Heiskala wore #16 in 1972-73 and most of 1973-74, with Ted Hodgson also wearing #16 briefly in 1973-74.
