Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The third NHL stop of his career, netminder Curtis Joseph guarded the crease of the Toronto Maple Leafs for four seasons in the late-1990s/early-2000s – an era that witnessed Cujo make back-to-back All-Star Game appearances along with winning the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, in 2000. This signed stick was used by Joseph in 1999-00, specifically in the 5-2 win vs Edmonton on Nov 27th, with the goaltender earning an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the match. A Bauer R6000 model with “Cujo” stamped to the upper shaft, the original white tape remains over the blade, handle and knob, with a few strands also added to the upper paddle. Joseph has signed one side of the upper paddle in silver, with “Nov 27, 99” and “Oilers 2 Leafs 5” handwritten to the reverse side, with just light to moderate game-use exhibited, with wear to the taped section of blade including puck marks and a tear to the tape, with some red paint transfer over the upper shaft. There is also a large surface chip near the top of the shaft, with a section of it covered with the knob tape.
