A product of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey program, Don Jackson was drafted by both the NHL and WHA and spent parts of 10 seasons in the NHL, and later coached extensively including in Germany. From the 1983-84 season, we have a stick used by Jackson that has been team-signed by the Stanley Cup champion Edmonton Oilers. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with “Jackson” and “29” stamped, the original black tape remains over the blade and handle, with “29” also handwritten (this has bled into the wood). The stick shows moderate game-use, with a large chip with material loss on the mid-shaft, with a date code of “11 Oct 1983” stamped to the underside. “83-84 Stanley Cup” has been handwritten in silver over the reverse blade, with a pair of labels affixed to the lower shaft with “1983/84 Champions Edmonton Oilers”. 21 have signed the front side shaft in ballpoint including Jackson, along with Gretzky (signature is light, especially the “W” at the beginning of the signature), Fuhr, Coffey, Lowe, Messier, Moog, Hunter, Semenko, Hughes, Lindstrom, Conacher, Huddy and a few others. Most of the signatures are small but present well. A thin layer of varnish has also been added over the signed side of the shaft.
