Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

One of the hobby's most desirable hockey rookie cards is that featuring Maurice "Rocket" Richard, with an example of card #4 from Parkhurst's landmark inaugural issue offered here in VG 3 form. Mentioned on the front are Richard's 42 goals from the previous season, (one shy of league leader Gordie Howe’s 43), after which he and the Canadiens (65 points) upset league champion Detroit (101 points) in six games in the first round of the playoffs, before bowing to the Maple Leafs in five in an all-overtime final, ended by Bill Barilko. The Rocket led all playoff scorers that spring with nine goals in 11 games, his 13 points also being tops. With a problem-free back, the offered example displays rounding at the corners and an image left of center, with bold colors an attribute and no creases visible. A thought-provoking depiction of a people’s hero and a hockey icon, for sure. An absolute prerequisite to an important Richard/RC collection awaits yours, with miscellaneous scratches to the PSA holder to be aware of.
