Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
The only World Championship win celebrated by the bums in Brooklyn, the 1955 World Series would be the fifth time in ten years that the Dodgers would meet the crosstown Yankees in the Fall Classic. A home-advantage series, after losing the first two games at The House That Ruth Built, the Dodgers would convincingly take the next three played at Ebbets Field. Back to the Bronx for Game 6, Whitey Ford would only give up four hits and a single run to force Game 7. The Dodgers would keep the Yankees off the scoreboard in the deciding game and claim the city’s only World Series Championship. This lot offers a Game 1 program from Yankee Stadium, accompanied by a pair of Game 1 ticket stubs. Featuring skippers Casey Stengel and Walt Alston on the cover, the 48-page program is complete and scored in ballpoint over pencil, with light to moderate handling wear present, with a bit of wear along the spine and a few surface indentation as well as a couple creases to the back cover. The ticket stubs remain clean, with fairly straight torn sides along the perforations, with just a few minor creases to each, with the pair displaying beautifully overall.
