Members of the International League for parts of seven decades, the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club began life in the late-19th century, and served as darlings of the league throughout the mid-1950s, leading the circuit in attendance every year from 1952 to 1956. Hailing from the era and serving as a large and comprehensive archive, we offer a considerable group of 1950s/60 Maple Leafs photos, documents, reports, promotional items and much more, with the collection originating from a team executive during the era. Included, we have numerous budget sheets, office memos, booster club and press releases, season ticket documents, 19 Leafs programs, 1959 and 1960 Leafs yearbooks, blueprints, drawings and reports for a new Toronto Stadium, documents pertaining to the application of an AFL football franchise from 1960, a number of documents and letters signed or initialed by Jack Kent Cooke, an LA Angels player rooming list from 1961, and letter heads from Spalding, Columbus Baseball Club and Montreal Baseball Club. The diverse lot also features over 100 black and white period photos including a trio of team photos (one is colourized), approx 8 misc ticket and passes, a Rudie Schaefer Chicago White Sox business card, a Patterson/Johansson fight closed circuit press package from 1959, and roughly 13 publications, including Leafs 1961 Press Guides (2), a 1961 Columbus Jets Sketch Book, a Buffalo Bisons program, 1961 Kansas City Athletics, Chicago White Sox, and Los Angeles Angels Press Books, a 1960 Milwaukee Braves Press Book, 1961 Seattle Rainiers and Omaha Dodgers programs, a Baltimore Orioles 1954 survey and more. Most of the items sports moderate wear commensurate with their former use along with age, storage and handling wear.
