Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
To both the delight of new American hockey viewers and the dismay of knowledgeable Canadian hockey fans, the NHL began using special pucks fitted with electronic sensors during the mid-1990s, with these “Fox Trax” examples seeing use during televised contests on Fox. Embedded with electronics and sensors, this Official Bettman-endorsed Inglasco 960 model with the National Hockey League logo appearing in the center of both sides would show a blue halo during TV broadcasts that would change to a red “comet tail” when shot by a player. Four sensors can be viewed on each side, with another 12 devices mounted around the outer edge of the puck. The puck does show use, with a few minor surface scratches along with a “cut” to the surface, and displays in beautiful high grade overall.
