Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Transitioning from his first club the Winnipeg Jets to the Buffalo Sabres in a large trade during the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, Dale Hawerchuk would spend five high-scoring seasons in upstate New York. Scoring his first Sabres goal at home against Patrick Roy and the Montreal Canadiens, Ducky achieved the feat while wearing the offered signed and photo-matched garment in 1990-91 – his first Buffalo Sabres jersey! Worn beginning with the preseason and then during the regular season until December, the alternate captain’s jersey features Maska labeling with handwritten “52” sizing, with NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the classic Sabres team crest with chain-stitched detailing, “10” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with team patches gracing each shoulder. Heavy game-use is visible throughout, with numerous puck and stick marks littering the front and sleeves along with a few small holes, with light pilling to the interior. Dale has signed over the right breast in blue marker, and we should note that the signature was obtained by our consignor at an NHL Alumni charity game in the early-2000s.
Regarding the photo-match, Getty Images #224530 (1990-91 season) has been matched to the big black mark below the "A", to the horizontal black mark below the team crest, to the long black mark at the left of the "10" on the left sleeve and to half a dozen plus marks on the lower left sleeve in the white striping. A copy of the Sept 28, 1990 Hockey News with Hawerchuk cover along with his 1990-91 Upper Deck and O-Pee-Chee Premier hockey cards will also be included.
