Some O-Pee-Chee wax pack action from the 1980s is to tell you about here, led chronologically by a 1981-82 pack that cost 25 cents back in the day (a first for OPC) and which has been encapsulated by Global Authority, earning a mark of 7.5 NM+. Joining the stick of gum inside are 14 cards including possible high grade rookies of Coffey, Kurry, Moog, Savard, Murphy, Stastny and others – yes, a good year for RCs it was. An unidentified Calgary Flames player can be seen on the back. Also receiving a mark of 7.5 NM+ is an OPC pack from ’83-84 (with a Detroit player visible through the back), the year that has Gretzky and Messier appearing on the same card and RCs of Stevens, Lindbergh, Carbonneau and others. There also are three other (not encapsulated) ’83-84 packs, with two of them exhibiting no evidence of tampering and the other questionable. Seen through the backs of the respective (10-card) packs are players from the Red Wings (Micalef), Bruins and Kings. Completing and graded 7 NM is an ’86-87 pack (7 cards), with Patrick Roy’s rookie highlighting the possible pack pulls. Scuffs/scratches to the fronts of the holders of the ’83-84 and ’86-87 packs are to be aware of.
