Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
A good chance here for those of you who have always wanted to add Parkhurst’s all-important inaugural hockey card set to your collection but have been discouraged by the daunting task of assembling it and/or the cost involved. As you can see, these cards were once all glued onto the black pages of a classic photo album of the day, with varying amounts of black paper affecting the majority of the backs. The key Gordie Howe, although with side-to-side creasing and some glue stains on the front, displays superior to the vast majority, with smooth edges and rather sharp corners NOT due to trimming; the card measures the appropriate size. The Maurice Richard rookie unfortunately has significant glue stains on the front, while a crease but no stains are to mention with regards to Terry Sawchuk’s RC. Varying degrees of creasing and/or staining affect the rest, with some displaying superior to others and our images of the key cards giving you a good idea of their state. Cards not shown which have multiple/heavy creases are not plentiful (a dozen), with 68-Pronovost the most unsightly. Check them all out and contemplate whether this gathering of a landmark sports card issue is for you.
