Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Coining the now ubiquitous hockey phrase “He shoots, he scores”, Foster Hewitt served as Canada’s premier play-by-play broadcaster for 40 years. Lending his famous name to Reliable Toys during the Original Six era to produce the offered “Foster Hewitt Hockey Game”, this example is accompanied by its original pictorial box. At roughly 11” x 23” x 3 ½”, the game features plastic and metal construction, with well-detailed metal players. The referee pieces have broken off, and are no longer present. All players are in place including the goalies, with the game surviving in very good condition. The surface shows wear including marks and scratches, and would benefit from a thorough cleaning. The mechanisms are in working order, with none of the original steel balls that served as pucks remaining. The box exhibits moderate to heavier wear from age and use with some minor staining visible.
