Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Winning six Grand Prix races in a short career that lasted from 1978 until his untimely death in 1982, legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve is featured in this pair of desirable period racing posters, with an example from the 1970s picturing Villeneuve in the green #69 car with Skiroule snowmobiles advertising (23 ½” x 34”), along with a poster for the 1980 Labatt’s Canadian Grand Prix picturing Villeneuve racing for the Scuderia Ferrari team in the #12 car (21” x 28”). Each wonderfully illustrated and rarely found specimen does sport condition issues, with surface indentations, creases and some edge wear along with toning to the reverses. The Grand Prix poster also shows some spotting, with clear tape added in spots and material loss at three corners, while the Skiroule poster also has a few small tears and material loss at the bottom left corner.
