Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

An entrepreneurial hobbyist is going to have an absolute field day with this intriguing stash, with many of the cards at least somewhat scarce back in the day. We rate the hundreds of 1993-94 Stadium 1st Day Issue parallel cards as likely the most alluring, given the lineup, quantity and book value. Stars and superstars who are now enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame show up multiple times, with four of Wayne Gretzky and two of Patrick Roy joined by three or four of Yzerman, Jagr, Hasek, Federov, Sakic, Lindros, Messier, Bourque, Hull, Selanne, Lemieux (three different trophy winner cards) and several more. Like the other issues that we’ll get to, cards have been stored in 500-count O-Pee-Chee vending boxes, with approximately half in each of four boxes being the 1st Day Issue parallels and the other half “regular” Stadium Club cards, meaning that 800+ of the parallels are what you can look forward to. There are then two similar “VEND PAK” boxes (900+ cards) packed with ’93-94 OPC Premier Black Gold inserts numbered between 13 and 24 (incalculable amounts of each player – Mario, Jagr, Yzerman, Sakic, etc.) while numbers 1 to 12 are represented by “only” 40-some odd (approximately four of each player including Gretzky and Roy). Because of the (tight) storage method, some color loss is observed on some, similar to a smaller quantity of the 1st Day Issue cards. Okay, moving on, there are well over (1500!) ’94-95 OPC Premier “Special Effects” parallels, again with multiples of stars and superstars and nearly an equal amount, if not more, of ’93-94 OPC Premier “Gold” parallels, most of the latter not even looked through – we ran out of time/will(!). There is also one box full (400+) of OPC Premier Finest inserts featuring young stars at the time, headlined by Martin Brodeur, with 23 cards comprising a set. Other miscellaneous goodies to come upon include over a dozen (12-card) sets of ’93-94 Topps Premier Finest cards (Mario, Lindros), multiples of ’93-94 Stadium Club All-Stars and a mix of over 1000 circa-1990 OPC hockey and baseball cards. Believe us, quantities and pleasant surprises are to be anticipated.
