Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
The first player in NHL history to score at least 20 goals within each of his first ten full seasons, Maurice Richard achieved the feat with the conclusion of the 1952-53 season, a campaign that also witnessed the Rocket surpass Nels Stewart for all-time goals. This lot features Richard’s signed NHL contract for the 1952-53 season. Produced for just the single year, the Standard Player’s Contract (8 ½” x 16” folded) called for Richard to earn $12,000.00 for the season (just under $200,000.00 in 2021 dollars), with no additional bonuses listed or addendums. Richard has signed in black ink along with fellow enshrined members Clarence Campbell and Donat Raymond, with the signatures displaying nicely. There is also a stamp from the Central Registry, with the Campbell signature placed over top. The highly desirable contract remains in excellent condition, with punched holes along the left side from prior binder insertion.
