Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The title here should be thought-provoking for those of you who follow the ultra-modern game, with a possible gem mint example of Connor McDavid’s coveted Upper Deck “Young Guns” rookie card coming to mind. Have you seen the kid skate and stickhandle and score and set up his Edmonton Oilers teammates? What a phenom, with the total number of NHL scoring titles in his past and future still years away from being tallied up. Let’s see, Gretzky won ten to better Howe’s record of six, with Gordie known for saying that records are made to be broken. Connor has won the Art Ross Trophy three times and is 24 years old – interesting. As are the numbers here; a dozen 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hobby boxes are in a factory-sealed case, with each box featuring (24) eight-card packs. Joining the Series 1 Young Guns roster, (that also includes rookie cards of Rantanen, Panarin, Hellebuyck, Larkin, Ehlers and others), is Upper Deck’s always-interesting assortment of inserts and parallels, with autographed and memorabilia cards among them. There are reports of an average of six Young Guns per hobby box. We all know which one pack-busters will be gunning for, whether that’s right away or in a couple/few years – the options you’ll have as the new owner are numerous. Good luck with this tempting high-stakes opportunity. We do not spot any notable condition issues with the box. It has “56232-05-Hobby” stamped on the bottom, while “2015-16 UD Series 1” is handwritten on one end panel.
