Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
From our consignor’s years-in-the-making and fresh-to-market non-sport collection of unopened material comes this Star Wars-related assortment of packs, dating back to the 1970s and the original Star Wars 5-series set. Earliest are a single 4th Series pack and two 5th Series packs. Light corner wear is observed on all three, with the latter two exhibiting light soiling on the back. A somewhat rough 5th Series display box is present, with a torn and detached right corner/side panel. Meanwhile, The Empire Strikes Back representatives include 13 Series 1 packs from 1980 and 17 Series 2 packs, all of them containing 12 cards, a sticker and a stick of gum. Most of both series exhibit wear at the corners, more evident in Series 1 (red) packs, the latter including a couple of split corners and the vast majority not being able to boast of having “gum intact”. Three complete (36-count) boxes of The Empire Strikes Back “giant photocards” are in the mix, with two of them having their die-cut “Mr. Dealer” front panels taped back into place and the other mostly still intact. Varying degrees of toning to the top and bottom edges of the wrappers is to be aware of, with one card per pack. Completing the stash are seven packs of 1983 Return of the Jedi Series 2 packs, with only a few intermittent white corner specks detected. It should be noted that all of the complete boxes from our consignor’s collection that were sent to unopened specialist “BBCE” were returned certified unopened and we can tell that these packs have also never been opened. Several options await you here.
