Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Fittingly earning his 2,857th and final point of his remarkable unmatched career in his last NHL game, Wayne Gretzky said goodbye to the fans at Madison Square Garden and the hockey world at large on April 18, 1999, in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Celebrating that historic and somber moment, we have a large framed and signed film-strip sequence of Wayne hanging up his skates for the final time. At approx 10” x 50”, the panoramic-style print includes five images of Wayne in the dressing room removing his skates, with a name and stats plaque beneath. The Great One has added a dark blue marker signature to the center image, with the display framed to full dimensions of approx 20 ½” x 59”. A WGA hologram has been affixed to the lower right, with a matching COA to accompany.
