Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Based out of St Paul and serving as an original WHA franchise, the Minnesota Fighting Saints enjoyed just four seasons of competition before folding in February of 1976. As such, any and all Saints jerseys are rare and highly sought, and we offer an example first worn by Curt Brackenbury during the 1974-75 WHA season, followed by John McKenzie during the 1975-76 preseason and regular season, as the Saints recycled the 1974-75 jerseys to save money. When McKenzie came to the Saints, Brackenbury gave up the #19 jersey for him and started wearing #9. A Rawlings label with “48” sizing is affixed to the collar, with a loop-style fight strap utilized. Featuring an attractive tackle twill team crest with chain-stitched detailing, “19” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “McKenzie” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. There is evidence of a former longer nameplate, with the original Steichens label likely removed or falling-out with the changing of the nameplate. Sporting light to moderate game-use with a few marks, stains and material pulls over the front and sleeves, there is also some blue paint transfer on the front and right sleeve, with pilling to the interior and repairs where the fight strap is attached.
