A fixture in Minnesota for over a quarter century and helping to anchor the State of Hockey moniker, the Minnesota North Stars were an original expansion club in 1967, and competed in the NHL until 1992-93, with appearances at two Stanley Cup finals. This North Stars jersey was first worn by Brian MacLellan in 1988-89 until his trade to Calgary for Shane Churla in the beginning of March of 1989, with the jersey then worn by Churla upon his arrival. Maska Air-Knit labeling is affixed to the collar, and measuring-out to roughly a size 54, embroidered Team Choice and CCM crests reside over the reverse hem. Styled with the classic North Stars pointed-N team crest, “27” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in drop-shadow tackle twill, with “Churla” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. The jersey also sports a customized lace and clasp fight strap, with evidence of the former MacLellan nameplate. Showing heavy use with marks across the front and team crest, there are also burns and pilling, with what appears to be blood stains over the shoulders. We should also note that equipment manager Mark Baribeau was known to mix up nameplates, with the Stars using whatever they had at their disposal.
