Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The only major league hockey team to ever be based out of Cincinnati, the Stingers started life as a WHA franchise in 1975-76, and spent four seasons in the rebel league before just a single season in the CHL, in 1979-80. This Stingers jersey hails from the lone CHL season. With no labeling present and measuring-out to roughly a size 44, the team crest, striping bands and “30” over the sleeves and reverse have all been rubberized, with “Dion” across the affixed nameplate in tackle twill. There is evidence of a former nameplate, with the current nameplate on the jersey added later and not original to the jersey, possibly because someone thought it was a Michel Dion WHA Stingers jersey which is not the case. Sporting light wear with a few marks and creases to the rubberized identifiers, there is also a large slit over the front band.
