Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Ah, the boom years of the hockey card industry and a product here that made one of the biggest booms of the landmark 1990-91 season, with O-Pee-Chee upping its card stock and overall quality with its “Premier” issue, a 132-card effort that starred budding stars and soon-to-be-superstars Jaromir Jagr and Sergei Fedorov. Collectors appreciated the cards and the snazzy foil packaging and soon after, store owners were unable to keep sufficient stock for their customers. The image of the Fedorov RC appears on the box top here, with 36 seven-card packs inside, while laying in another box are 20 unopened packs. Joining Jagr and Federov in the rookie card class (of 58) are fellow Hall of Famers Mike Modano, Rob Blake and Mats Sundin, with Jeremy Roenick, Curtis Joseph, Peter Bondra, Alexander Mogilny and Owen Nolan RCs also contributing, while Gretzky, Lemieux, Roy, Yzerman, Hull and Sakic lead the non-RC star power. Likely numerous high grade “gems” await the new owner. The full box is lightly squished, with creasing to the right side panel and three corners having come apart, while similar is the other display box (creasing to the left side panel), the four corners of it held together with small pieces of scotch tape.
